** The Half Marathon and 20 miler start point is 0.5 kms from the finish and runners are required to walk to this point. Half Marathon course is measured at 13.3 not 13.1 miles for your reference and the 20 miler at 20.5 miles
This is the New Forest – it’s raw, rugged and it’s untouched – it’s truly an area of outstanding beauty. The courses are all on vehicular tracks, road or bridle paths (only on the Half Marathon distances or above). These aren’t flat courses, they are undulating and if the weather turns damp, the challenge increases! In 2012 we had 24 degree heat, in 2013 we registered 0 degrees on the plain with the wind chill, it’s unpredictable, it’s great fun but above all – it’s as nature intended!!
Road Crossings – it’s your responsibility!!
We only supervise road crossings and open road sections of the courses, we don’t manage them. We aren’t legally allowed to manage traffic – it is your responsibility to check traffic when crossing or running on an open road.
Course distance markers
We do not use course distance markers as, at some points, we have 3 different races running at the same time and all 3 routes are different which would make it very confusing for runners. Sorry for any inconvenience – you can always ask another runners who you can see wearing a GPS if you don’t have your own.
Project Ability – our charitable partner
Project Ability is a venture set up by the charity ‘Youth Sport Trust’ to aid children with special needs experience and be included in competitive sport. We have been approached by the Swindon & Wiltshire faction of this unit (where we are based) to support them in 2015 to put on a big scale event for the children in the area. Please donate what you can at the checkout and on the day.
